Last year, PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash announced the studio’s plans to pivot on the planned adaptation of the popular video game series, Horizon Zero Dawn. Previously, the show was being developed as a live-action episodic television series by showrunner Steve Blackman, who worked on The Umbrella Academy, back in 2022. Several years later, it appears PlayStation Productions switched lanes for the project, re-envisioning it as a big-budget feature at Sony’s Columbia Pictures. However, PlayStation Productions is making a big mistake with the idea, as it will be much more difficult to adapt the Horizon saga without the narrative cushion of a multi-season episodic format.
